Salutare,
Oameni buni inca nu am reusit sa ma decit asupra unui blitz pentru batranelul meu Nikon D80..
deoarece am dat peste un articol in care se spune ca Nikon SB700 nu este full compatibil cu D80. Citez:
" D80 Not Fully Compatible With SB-700
Oct 19, 2011
I bought a SB-700 to use on my D80 only to find out it is not fully compatible. FX/DX autodetection does not work, it stays in FX mode. Color filter detection does not work. Apparently firmware updates to the SB-700 from the D80 also do not work.
The Nikon compatibility page for the SB-700 lists the D80 with the same feature set as the D7000. Clearly this is not the case. I have a support call open with Nikon but it is going nowhere quick. I would assume any other body around the D80 era or earlier may also have issues.
http://help.nikon.ca/...wers/detail/a_id/8456/kw/d80%20sb-700%20compatibilityI am just waiting for the D300s replacement to come out before I upgrade. So this won't be a problem for me for too long. But I thought I would point this out for anyone else using a slightly older body.

I can confirm the same incompatibilities between the D80 and the SB700.
The DX/FX setting on the SB700 has to be set manually - the SB700 doesn’t recognize whether it’s mounted on a DX or FX body apparently. It’s not a big deal if you don’t use more than one body though.
The filters are not recognized either. And yeah, it’s not possible to update the firmware of the SB700 through the D80 - but that’s mentioned in the user’s guide, so no unpleasant surprises here.
But more importantly, SB700’s head only goes down to 24mm in Automatic mode. So if you use say a 18-70mm DX lens on the D80, the lowest focal length the SB700 will respond to is indeed 24mm, not 18mm. As of December 2012, Nikon still claims on the website that the SB700 goes down to 14mm:
http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Flashes/index.page…that’s not accurate according to my experiments, or at least not for all bodies.
However, that shortcoming will only occur if the SB700 is working in Automatic mode. If you set it to Manual, you’re able to adjust it to 16mm and up (16, 17, 18, 20, 24, etc). I don’t want to depend on Manual mode myself - most times I need to shoot quick, so that’s not suitable for me. It does make a difference for the worse when shooting at 18mm DX on the lens and 24mm DX on the flashgun’s head.
Now if you apply the built-in diffuser on the SB700 in Automatic mode, the head goes to a fixed setting of 10mm (regardless of lens focal length), which will be wide enough for almost all lenses, but you may not want the diffuser effect on your photo, of course. Still, it may be useful for some situations.
I bought both the SB700 and the SB910 to try them with my D80, and decided to keep the SB910 - which right now is more expensive than the D80 body itself in the second-hand market, but I don’t regret it one bit. Although it’s not fully compatible with the D80 either, the SB910 will respond down to 17mm DX in Automatic mode, which is acceptable for me. Nikon claims it should go down to 12mm DX in Automatic mode – not true when used with the D80.
Therefore using for example the Tokina 11-16mm DX, the lowest the SB910 will offer in Automatic mode is 17mm (12mm in Manual mode, or 10mm with the built-in diffuser). I can live with that. Besides, after testing both flashguns I thought the SB910 has many other benefits over the SB700 which are worth the price for me (not the least of which its better photo quality – definitely more realistic, contrasty and vivid shots). And it will be great to use it with the recently launched D800 or D600, as soon as I win the lottery.
Just one last note: everything described above was tested in “Standard” Lightning Pattern mode, both on the SB700 and the SB910. They have two other modes of operation - “Center Weighted”, and “Even” - which may give a slightly different head position, but I thought “Standard” mode would be the most appropriate for these tests with the D80.

Voi ce parere aveti pana la urma care blitz din gama Nikon ar fi cel mai bun pentru D80-ul meu? Ar fi ok un SB600? sau SB800?
Multumesc anticipat.
